Benefits of PM Jan Dhan Yojana Account

  • Eligible for the accidental insurance cover of Rs 2 Lakh
  • No minimum balance is required for the account holders.
  • It will also cover the benefit of 30,000 life cover which will be payable on the death of the account holder but only if he/she fulfils the eligibility condition.
  • You can transfer money easily across India.
  • The amount will be credited to their account if they are entitled to government schemes.
  • Once you operate the account successfully for six months then you are eligible for an overdraft facility of Rs 10,000 earlier it was 5000.
  • It can be accessible to pension and insurance products.
  • Overdraft facility of up to Rs. Ten thousand will be given to only one account per household and preference given to the lady households.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana Features

When PM launched this mission of PMJDY, he was looking to provide affordable banking services to all citizens within a reasonable distance. It comprises six pillars, which are as follows:-

Accessible to banking facilities

With this, they are trying to map each district into the SSA which means sub-service areas under which at least one to two thousand households will be covered within a range of 5 km.

Basic banking facility

They aimed for at least one bank account in every unbanked household so that it may increase the culture of banking habits in every family and convince them to save their hard-earned money in a bank account.

Financial literacy program

To educate them about financial literacy so that they can operate the ATM card and get to know its benefits.

Micro-credit

Once you open the account and operate it satisfactorily for the next six months then you are eligible for the hassle-free credit facility of Rs 5000 and for that bank will not ask you for any kind of security, purpose or use of credit.

Micro Insurance Facility

With this all the BSBD (basic saving bank deposit) account holders are eligible for micro-insurance and for that there are two insurance scheme

PM Jeevan Bima Yojana (PMJBY)

Under this beneficiaries will get a life insurance cover of Rs 2 lakhs, and for that, they had to pay only Rs 330/- per year

PM Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)

This insurance scheme will give you accidental cover of Rs 2 lakh, and for that, you have to pay only Rs 12/- per year.

RuPay debit card

Once you open the account you will get the Rupay Card (ATM card) which also covers the accidental insurance of Rs 2 lakh only.

Who can Apply for PMJDY?

You can open the account at any nearest bank branch or CSP outlet with the help of a bank mitr.

But, in case you already possess a savings bank account then you have to close it within 30 days of the opening of a basic savings bank deposit account.

Documents Required for PMJDY

When you are going to apply for PMJDY at your nearest bank branch, you must carry some valid documents with you, which we have listed below:-

  • Photo identification proof: – the one who wants to open the account needs to carry any photo identification proof (Voter ID, Aadhaar Card, Driving license, etc.)
  • Ration card
  • PAN Card
  • Address proof: – (you need to submit your current and permanent address proof. It could be an electricity/water/phone/gas connection bill.)

  • Passport size photo (at least 3)
  • Driving license

  • Job card: – issued by the NREGA, and it must be duly signed by an officer of the state government.
