Chris Bumstead was born on 2 February 1995 in Ottawa city of Ontario, Canada as Christopher Adam Bumstead. His father Jeff Bumstead was a chief information officer while his mother Mary Bumstead was a consultant in Human Resource Organisation. Chris Bumstead has a sister Melissa Valliere. He was brought to the city of Ottawa only where he completed his graduation. Later on, he attended Dalhousie University in Canada only.
From his early school days, only Chris was inclined towards sports like basketball, football, and baseball and at the age of 14, he tried his hand at weight lifting which he loved a lot. He worked on his legs and gained a lot of weight. But it was not until Chris met his sister’s boyfriend Iain Valliere who was a fitness coach that drove his attention towards professional weight lifting. Chris Bumstead was a sporty person from the start only. In his school days, only he was inclined towards games like football, hockey, basketball and baseball. In his freshman year, he started to go to the gym which developed his love for weightlifting. This love was further polished by Iain Valliere, Chris’s sister’s boyfriend who saw Chris’s potential and helped him to achieve it. Iain Valliere trained and coached him. Chris’s first-ever bodybuilding competition was a local one held in Ontario. Chris along with his sister won the overall in that.
At the age of 19 Bumstead made his official debut in the year 2014. At the age of 21 in the year 2016, he obtained his IFBB pro card. This was achieved after is claimed the IFBB North American 2016 Bodybuilding Championship. In the year 2017, he came first in the IFBB Pittsburgh Pro, Classic Physique and IFBB Toronto Pro, Classic Physique. 2017 proved to be lucky for him as in the same year he secured 2nd position in the Mr Olympia Classic Physique. In the year 2018 the results were the same as Chris again took 2nd place in Mr Olympia Classic Physique but this time his health was not good. Due to severe water retention in his body, Chris was hospitalized 4 weeks before the competition and was even kept in the emergency for 3 days. Even this didn’t stop him and Chris came back more strong finally in the year 2019 he was first in Mr Olympia Classic Physique and won the competition back to back in the years 2020, 2021, and 2022.
