The 35-year-old Iranian bodybuilder Hadi Choopan won the prestigious bodybuilding title, Mr Olympia on 17 December 2022. He participated in the competition in 2019 and 2021 where he could win the Bronze. However, with utmost diligence and dedication, he finally won the competition. He was named Mr Olympia 2022 and was awarded a very heavy monetary prize of $400,000. His competitor Derek Lunsford, Nick Walker, Brandon Curry, and Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay were positioned after him.
Hadi’s body was subsequently criticised by the Bodybuilding Legend, Rich Gaspari who urged him to work on his conditioning as they lack the dryness that was very evident in their era. The comments were not taken well by the present Mr Olympia who in turn slammed him for his remarks. Gaspari further cleared the air explaining that his intentions were not to insult Hadi or speak against him and his body. He further appreciated him for his hard work and achievements.

Early Life and Family of Hadi
Hadi was born in Abnow, beyza County, Fars beyza Province of Iran on 26 September 1987. He has three brothers and a sister. Further, his family was struck with poverty due to which at the age of 10 he had to join his brother at a construction site. He worked as a plasterer for the buildings and was very skinny. It was three years later that he developed a keen interest in bodybuilding and gymming. He was well supported by his brother in his endeavours which also included boxing initially. However, following participation in multiple boxing championships, he finally withdrew from the field to solely focus on bodybuilding.
It is suspected that while boxing, he faced such injuries that cost him the ability to hear. Nevertheless, there have been strong reports of him suffering a loss of hearing since childhood. The bottom line fact is that bodybuilder has some issues with hearing.
Mr. Olympia 2022 Career
Hadi developed an interest in bodybuilding at the tender age of 13 along with an interest in boxing. He actively spent his time in the gymming and built his body accordingly. He also participated in multiple boxing championships which he used to ace. However, with growing age, he contracted an acute liking for bodybuilding. Thus, at an age of 17, he gave up boxing to independently concentrate on bodybuilding. Further, he built his career and physique accordingly to suit the aspect of the profession.
When Hadi commenced his struggles in his career, he was excessively underweight. This was not only unhealthy but unsupportive of his dreams. He was trained by Jamshid Owji who gradually set him to different diets and physical goals. In 2008, he appeared in the WBPF World Bodybuilding Championship where he bagged a silver. This was the beginning of his glorious career. He joined Ali Ne’mar to get more concentrated on his body-building goals. Post that, he won the WBPF Asia Championship further participating in the WBPF World Bodybuilding Championship in 2013, 2014, and 2015.

He started to practise with Hany Rambod and his proficiency increased due to much better and more relevant guidance. He participated in the Mr Olympia Amateur in 2017, which he ended up winning. Subsequently, he stood third in Mr Olympia’s competitions in 2019 and 2021. It is finally in 2022, that he won the title of Mr Olympia defeating all the participants while earning the title and a cash prize of $400,000.
