A senior cop of the Raipur police present in the conference of the media stated that the MLA of Congress named Devendra Yadav filed an FIR against the fake news which was telecast on the Zee News Channel and its anchor was Rohit Ranjan.

There was an original video of the INC president Rahul Gandhi in which was like that Rahul Gandhi forgiving the people who vandalised his office in Wayanad by referring to them as the children, But the team of Zee News fabricated the video of Rahul Gandhi as he was requesting to forgive those people involved in the murder of the Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal. This video was edited by some anti-social elements of the society and Zee News anchor Rohit Ranjan showed this edited video without verifying this video of Rahul Gandhi.
Police Action Against Rohit Ranjan
After the filing of the police complaint by the congress MLA Devendra Yadav, the experts stated that the Chhattisgarh police rushed to the residence of the journalist and tried to arrest him along with the arrest warrant. Soon after that Rohit Ranjan who is also active on the social networking sites such as Twitter stated in a Twitter post that the Chhattisgarh Police officials are standing outside his house and if it is legal to arrest him without informing the local police officials. He tagged the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
After some time, a police team from Ghaziabad also rushed to his residence and demanded his police custody. Now the battle of custody started between the Ghaziabad and Chhattisgarh Police. Eventually, the custody of Rohit Ranjan was provided to the local police which later released Ranjan on interim bail.
Apology
After getting the interim bail from the custody of Noida Police, the team of Zee News Media Channel along with the TV anchor apologised to the INC president and also to the people of India for showing the doctored video of Rahul Gandhi. Rohit and his team apologised over the social media platform on the 2nd of July, 2022. They cleared the dispute by informing that it was their mistake of linking Rahul Gandhi’s video of 1st July with the video of the Udaipur murder which occurred on 28th of June 2022. Rohit Ranjan also apologised on social media by stating that it was a human error for which their team was apologetic.
FIR Against Rohit Ranjan
Rohit Ranjan has been telecasting the show DNA on Zee News. It was previously hosted by the prominent anchor Sudhir Chaudhary. After the controversy of Rohit Ranjan involving Congress President Rahul Gandhi, there were many FIRs filed against him by the congress supporters. The FIRs filed against him are as follows:

A team of police again arrived at his residence on the 6th of July, 2022. This was the second instance when Rohit Ranjan was approached for judicial custody by a team of Chhattisgarh Police again after he was granted bail by the local police. But this time the police officials reported that they did not find him at his residence in Ghaziabad and later on, the Chhattisgarh police officials declared him absconding.

After absconding from the Chhattisgarh police in their second attempt to arrest the journalist, the news anchor presented himself in front of the supreme court to get relief from the multiple FIRs filed against him. The supreme court granted relief to the journalist after his lawyer requested several pleas. The bench that has given the verdict comprised Justice Indira Banerjee and JK Maheshwari. These judges passed the judgement to protect Rohit Ranjan from any type of compulsion to get him into custody. His lawyer from the firm pleaded for multiple reliefs such as revoking the multiple FIRs against him or clubbing all those FIR lodged against the client.
