Why Karnataka Govt. Scrap NEP 2020?
The announcement of Karnataka New State Education Policy posits a valid question i.e. Why Govt. Scrap NEP 2020? To answer this question, DK Shivakumar said that the government took the decision to scrap the NEP 2020 after going through various aspects of it. Furthermore, the Higher Education Minister of the State M.C Sudhakar wholeheartedly supported this decision.
In support of scrapping the NEP 2020, Sudhakar said that “Infrastructure is not there. Not a single rupee was allocated when they introduced NEP in 2021. Even faculty issue is there. So, the state government has decided to bring in a new education policy from next year.”
He further went on to claim that the National Educational Policy of 2020 is simply made in accordance with the BJP’s ideology. He further added that the policy is also not about assessment or mode of teaching. So, the announcement of a New Educational Policy is a necessity for the state.
Why Karnataka Government Implemented NEP in 2021?
One must think about why the state implemented the National Education Policy of the central government when they were going to launch their own state education policy. NEP has continued this year to avoid inconvenience to the students in the middle of the year.”
What will happen to the Students Studying as per NEP 2020?
Since a new education policy is set to be implemented in the state, the thought of What will happen to the Students Studying as per NEP 2020? is worth contemplating. For this, Sudhakar said that “We will also be making announcements regarding students who are already studying under NEP. We will be curtailing four-year courses to three years. An expert committee will decide on all of this.”
He also further added that since the introduction of NEP in the state in 2021, only Higher Education has implemented it. The primary and secondary education department of the state is yet to implement the guideline of the policy. Therefore, they can directly implement the Karnataka New State Education Policy from the next academic year.
