The candidates with the highest marks on the merit list will be allotted a seat first, the procedure of seat allotment will continue till a single seat is available. The merit list will be prepared based on the caste and domicile of the admission seekers.
Tie-Breaking Rules for Admission in Odisha
When a merit list is prepared for a huge number of candidates then there are many chances of two students scoring the same marks. In this case, it becomes confusing to place any one of them on a higher rank. So the department has introduced a few rules. Know about them from here;
- Percentage in Mathematics will get checked and the one with a higher percentage will get a higher spot.
- If the same marks in Maths then marks in Science will be counted. In case the course is related to a non-Engineering stream the marks in English will be considered.
- If the above two are not applicable then marks in English will be calculated
- At last, if a tie persists then the elder candidates will get the higher rank.

Students will have to participate in the online counselling process conducted by SAMS Odisha. For counselling and choice filling also you will have to log in on the website and enter your choice of institutes. The admission to the institute that you put on first preference will depend on the availability of seats and your rank on the merit list.
