How to apply for a Scholarship in India?

The application procedure for most of the scholarship schemes is online now. Students must apply through the National Scholarship Portal for all the national-level scholarships. Apart from this, there might be separate websites for some of the scholarships. Application forms for national-level scholarships like NMMS can be filled through the official portals of the concerned authorities, like SCERTs of the states.

For state-level scholarships, students can apply either online or offline. The application procedure for most scholarships is online and can be completed by visiting the concerned portals. Similarly, eligible students must apply by visiting the respective education portals for college-level and other types of scholarships.

Documents Required for scholarship in India

The first and foremost thing every student should check before applying for a scholarship is the eligibility criteria. After that, they must have relevant documents to prove their eligibility. The requirement of documents depends on the type of scholarship they wish to apply. For example a scholarship is only for BPL students, then applicants must have a BPL certificate/ ration card/ income certificate or any other supporting document as prescribed. Therefore, we suggest our readers thoroughly review the official notification before applying.

Here, we have shared a list of some of the documents which are commonly required for all scholarships-

  • Identity Proof
  • Educational certificates
  • Birth certificate
  • Residential proof (generally in state level scholarships)
  • Income Certificate (As applicable)
  • Physical Disability certificate (as applicable)
  • Bank Details
  • Passport sized photograph
For detailed information, students should visit the official portal of the scholarship concerned.

The details shared in this post must have cleared that scholarships in India are meant for the country’s poor and economically weaker sections. Students have to identify the right scholarship in India as per their needs & eligibility and apply for that within the specified schedule without losing any chance.
