Laxmi Bhandar Status: West Bengal TMC Government of Mamta Banerjee has rolled out a scheme for supporting the state’s women. The launch of this cash transfer scheme was a part of TMC-Manifesto 2021. The main motive of the scheme is to ensure the social security of the women of the state by providing them with basic income support every month. Those wishing to join this scheme and get benefits must register. Those who have to register for the same can now check their Laxmi Bhandar Status online or by visiting the concerned office.

Laxmi Bhandar Prakalp scheme is a state government-funded scheme implemented by the Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal. Under the scheme, the state government will provide financial support to the women head of the families living in the state’s urban and rural areas. The general households will be provided monthly assistance of Rs.500/- (i.e. 6000/- per year), and the SC/ST women will be given Rs.1000/- per month (i.e. 12000/- annually). The estimated yearly budget outlay of the scheme will be ₹12,900 Crores.

The transfer of funds has been started from the 1st of September 2021. Those who have successfully submitted applications for the scheme can check their application and payment status by visiting the scheme’s official website, socialsecurity.wb.gov.in. The scheme will ensure women’s empowerment and provide a sense of security to the beneficiaries. A woman who is a state resident, not a government employee, aged between 25 and 60, is eligible. Those who have not submitted their applications can visit the “Duare Sarkar” camps and apply before the last date. There are more than 2,000 Duare Sarker camps in the state through which applications can be submitted.

After successful registration, applicants can check their application and payment status online. The beneficiary’s life status is verified yearly based on information from the Registrar of Birth and Death.

Laxmi Bhandar Scheme Application: Documents Required

As applications for the schemes are currently active, eligible state women can visit the concerned Duare Sarkar Camp and register themselves under the scheme. They must make sure that they carry the following documents and details with them for registration-

• Aadhaar Card
• Swasthyasathi Card
• SC/ST certificate, if applicable
• Bank Account details– Self-attested photocopy of the passbook’s front page containing all the important details.
• Self-declaration (self attested) stating-
  – That the applicant is a resident of the state,
  – Applicant is not a government employee, does not have a pension, etc.
  – The information furnished in the application form is correct.

Note: Aadhaar card/ Swasthyasathi Card is compulsory for application. In case an applicant is not having any of the cards then they will be registered provisionally under the scheme and will be facilitated to get their cards. After that, they will be enrolled finally for the scheme.

How to check Laxmi Bhandar Status Online?

West Bengal citizens who have enrolled in the scheme are also provided an option to check the application status. They can check their application status from 8th September 2021 onwards. Status can be checked online, and applicants will know whether their applications have been sanctioned. The sanctioning authority in the state’s urban areas will be the Commissioner of Kolkata Municipal Corporation, while for other areas, it will be the District Magistrate (DM).
