Prime Minister Narendra Modi today while laying the foundation stone for Manipur water supply project on 23rd July 2020 launches the mission called “Har Ghar Jal” through this mission government will try to all possible effort to provide tap water connection to every household of our country especially concentrating rural areas and they aim to complete this mission till 2024. With the help of this हर घर नल से जल mission, they are trying to bring happiness by providing potable water at the doorstep of such families who walk miles to fetch water. Through this life-changing mission हर घर जल मिशन, they will provide prescribed quality water of 55 lpcd on a regular basis.
Update on JJM: According to the data released by the government that around 27% of rural households now have tap connection as on 15th August 2020 and they committed for the remaining 73% rural household will be covered by the end of 2024.
According to the press release, the total outlay for this ‘Har Ghar Jal’ mission will be of 3.60 lakh crore in which central share will be of 2.08 lakh and states will pay Rs. 1.52 lakh crore.
Under this project in Manipur, around 280756 households will cover in 25 towns, and 1731 rural habitation of 16 Manipur district and an estimated value of this project in Manipur will be around 3000 crores.

After delivering some basic amenities service to the people of rural households who are fighting for such services from ages like road, cooking gas, electricity, banking services, health services now PM Modi lead government is now committed with yet another mission called ‘Har Ghar Jal’. Through this, they aim to provide a tap connection on the premises of every rural household.
Earlier, this mission was announced by FM Nirmala sitharaman while presenting his first budget in 2019-2020. This mission aim is to not only provide potable water at the doorstep but also aim to focus on implementing sustainability measures such as recharge of groundwater, rainwater harvesting and reuse it through grey water management.

प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने आज मणिपुर वाटर सप्लाई प्रोजेक्ट की नींव रखने के साथ हर घर जल मिशन की भी शुरुआत करी। इस मिशन के द्वारा देश के हर ग्रामीण क्षेत्र के एक एक परिवार को उच्चतम गुणवत्ता मानकों पर आधारित पानी उपलब्ध करवाया जायगा इसके लिए सरकार निरंतर काम कर रही है और इस मिशन को वह 2024 तक पूरा करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है।
इस योजना को वर्ष 2019-2020 मै भारत की फाइनेंस मिनिस्टर निर्मला सीतारमण ने अपने पहले बजट के दौरान पेश किया था. हर घर नल से जल मिशन के तहत कुल 3.60 लाख करोड़ का अनुमानित परिव्यय है जिसको क्रमश 2.08 केंद्र सरकार द्वारा तथा 1.52 लाख करोड़ राज्य सरकार दिया जाना है।

हर घर नल से जल
The national Jal mission is closely monitoring the mission and always in contact with every state to make this mission successful by the end of 2024. During the current year, 8050 crore funds have been allocated for this mission and in the first quarter of this year, around 19 lakh tap connection provided in villages across India and all this achievement came under the pandemic COVID-19.
Right now there are 18.93 crore rural households in our country out of which only 4.60 crores have tap connection which is 24.30% and now through this har Ghar Jal mission they are going to cover the remaining 14.33 crore households and ensure that all tap connection should be functional.
Main objective of Har Ghar Nal se Jal mission
Some main objective of the har Ghar Jal mission is:
- To provide good quality potable water to every household not having tap connection in their premises
- They aim to complete this mission by the end of 2024
- The project is implementing in such a way that for the next two decades people will not face any problem for tap water.
- 55 lpcd water will be supplied to every household on a regular basis
- This mission will surely help women whose daily routine is to fetch water after walking a mile and it will make their life easier and healthier.
- Priority under this scheme will be given to those where the scarcity of water is most, quality affected areas, sansad Adarsh gram villages, SC/ST dominated habitations.
If we talk about the achievement of this mission 7 states such as Bihar, Telangana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Haryana, Mizoram, and Himachal Pradesh have achieved their more than 10% target which they fixed for year 2020-2021.
