CBSE now have been following the grading system for class 10t since 2010. Now the result indicates the CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) obtained by the candidates instead of the marks. The grading system was introduced so that comparison can be avoided and a small difference between the marks of the students in the same band can be brought.

To make it easy to understand the CGPA and marks for the candidates and parents who are waiting for the result we have shared the complete grading scheme below. It includes the CGPA, grade, and respective marks range.

Marks range obtained CPGA/ Grade Allotted Grade Allotted
91-100 10 A1
81-90 9 A2
71-80 8 B1
61-70 7 B2
51-60 6 C1
41-50 4 C2
33-40 4 D
21-32 E1
00-20 E2

The table indicates that if a candidate obtains marks between 91 to 100 will be awarded CGPA 10 and A grade, and so on. This is how you should read your CBSE 10th class result online and on the mark sheet.

How to calculate CGPA?

Although CGPA i.e. Cumulative Grade Point Average of the student is already mentioned on the result, in case students wish to calculate it on their own they can also do it. They can calculate their CGPA as-

Candidates have to add the grade points of five subjects and divide the sum by 5.
Suppose-

A student has obtained the given marks in each subject-

Subject 1- 8
Subject 2- 9
Subject 3- 9
Subject 4- 9
Subject 5- 10

Step I- They have to add all the grade points-
8+9+9+9+10= 45
Step II- They have to divide the sum with 5
45/5= 9
It means the answer i.e. 9 is the CGPA of the student.

This is how one can calculate his/her CGPA
