The post of SI, Lady SI for Unarmed branch and SI for Armed branch is open for a total of 1088 posts. Out of 1088 posts, 938 posts for the male candidates while the other 150 posts are reserved for the Lady SI. The vacancies are categorized under the following divisions as follows.

WB Police SI Recruitment 2021 Eligibility
The applicants must check the eligibility criteria beforehand in order to avoid last minute disappointments. The eligibility criteria as prescribed by the WB Police Recruitment Board for the various posts of SI are as follows.

Step 7: For the new users, sign up by filling the information asked.

How to apply – Offline Mode
The candidates can download a copy of the application from the official website of West Bengal Police. Follow the steps mentioned below to successfully apply for the desired post in WB police.
Stage I: Download the Application Form
- Visit the official website of the WB Police.
- Go to the ‘Recruitment‘ tab and select “Recruitment to the post of Sub-Inspector and Lady Sub-Inspector in West Bengal Police 2020”.
- Click on the “Get Details” link against ‘Download Off-line Application’.
- Select the desirable post, gender, state & district of the residence and fill up all the required details.
- Click on “Save and Download” option after filling up all the requisite fields.
- Take a print out of the application form on 75 GSM A4 size paper.
- The application form will bear an eight-digit unique application number and a bar code. It will also contain the total amount to be paid for the application.
Stage II: Payment
The applicants can make payment for the form only in two ways – Payment through the Department of Post (DOP) or Payment through the PNB (erstwhile United Bank of India)
(A) Payment via Department of Post
The candidates can avail this facility in 388 enlisted post offices in the state of West Bengal. In these 388 post offices, the e-payment facility is available. The candidates can directly visit any one of these post offices with their duly filled application form to pay the requisite fee.
The candidates must deposit the fee in the favour of “West Bengal Police Recruitment Board”. They must carry the “Indian Post Challan Form” bearing their name and unique application serial number.
After the payment, the authorities will provide you with a receipt claiming your successful payment to the board.
The applicants must pay an additional sum of Rs. 10 as Service Charge to the Department of Post along with the application form fee.

(B) Payment via PNB (erstwhile United Bank of India)
The applicants can also make their payment of the application form n any Punjab National Bank pan India branch. They must carry the copy of Challan made available during the download of the application form.
The authorities will generate a unique transaction ID and provide you with two copies of Challan named as Board copy and Candidate’s copy. The candidate must keep the candidate copy of Challan with himself while attach the board’s copy with the application form.
An additional sum of Rs. 36 must be paid by the candidate as Service Charge to the bank along with the application form fee.
Stage III: Submission of offline Application Form
The candidates must attach the requisite receipts claiming their successful payment with the application form. Also, a recent coloured passport size photograph of the candidate must be affixed in the space provided.
It is recommended to retain a photocopy of the application form in case of any discrepancies.
The duly application form must be sent to the following address via post only. It is solely candidate’s duty to ensure that their application form is received by the officials on or before the last date.

WB Police SI Recruitment 2021 Selection Criteria
The selection procedure for the recruitment for West Bengal SI posts is divided into four stages. The first stage is the Preliminary test that will be a screening test and only those candidates who have qualified will be able to join the other qualifying tests. The second test is PMT and PET that will test the physical measurements and efficiency of the shortlisted candidates. Next stage is the Final Combined Competitive Examination that will consist of 3 papers based on the conventional type of questions regarding GK & Aptitude, English and the local language. The last stage will be a personality test for the selected candidates.
Stage I: Preliminary Test
The incomplete or faulty applications will not be considered for this stage. Other applicants will be called to appear for the examination.

Stage II: Physical Measurement and Efficiency Test (PMT & PET)
The shortlisted candidates from the first stage will be called for PMT and PET. The WBPRB will conduct the tests at the venues decided by the concerned authorities.

Stage III: Final Combined Competitive Examination
The Final Combined Competitive Examination will consist of three different papers scheduled to be conducted on the same day. The candidates can choose amongst Bengali, Nepali and English as their mode of the language for the examination.

Syllabus for Examination
Stage IV: Personality Test
The Personality Test will be conducted to judge the candidate’s fluency in the Bengali language. The test will be of 30 marks and it is essential for the appearing candidate to secure at least the minimum 8 marks to be considered for the selection. If a candidate fails in the test, his/her marks in earlier stages will not be counted during the merit.
After the publication of the merit list, the selected candidates are required to appear for the document verification process and the medical examination. The appointment and the probation of the selected candidates after their qualification in the medical examination will be based on the following grounds.
The then selected candidates will undergo a training programme at Swami Vivekananda State Police Academy or Subsidiary Training Centre, West Bengal. The programme will be set by the Police Regulation Bengal. The candidates must successfully pass the programme in order to join the forces. The successful training programme will imply the confirmed appointment of the candidate for the desired post of SI.
