The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the UPSC NDA I Notification on December 20, 2023. Applicants who fulfil the required eligibility criteria (which can be checked below) are eligible to submit the UPSC NDA I Application Form. The online application link for the NDA Recruitment has been active online since December 20, 2023. Like CDS I, its exam will also be held nationwide on April 21, 2024 (Sunday).

UPSC NDA Eligibility Criteria
To complete the UPSC NDA I Application Form 2024, the applicants must compulsorily satisfy the following eligibility conditions.
- The aspirants must be unmarried citizens of India or A subject of Bhutan/ Nepal or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and the East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or Vietnam can also apply for NDA.
- The aspirants must be unmarried, and they must not be born earlier than 02nd July, 2005 and not later than 1st July, 2008.
- To apply for the National Defence Academy Exam the required qualification is 12th Pass from a recognized State Education Board. Candidates currently studying Class 12th under the 10+2 pattern can also apply for the examination.
- To apply for Air Force or Naval wings and for the 10+2 Cadet entry scheme at the Indian Naval Academy the aspirants must have passed the 12th Standard with Physics and Mathematics as subjects or cleared the equivalent examination of the State Board.
UPSC NDA I Application Form Filling Process
All the eligible aspirants can fill out the UPSC NDA I Application Form 2024 by using the following process on the commission’s official website.
- For the first step, enter the commission’s official website for online application form submission, which is https://upsconline.nic.in/.
- On the homepage, select the option that reads “One-Time Registration (OTR) for examinations of UPSC and Online Application.”
- Fill out the complete registration form and generate login details.
- Now, use these login details on the login window and enter the application dashboard.
- Select the application form link on this dashboard and fill out all the spaces of the application form.
- After this, upload the documents required for the application form in the provided links.
- Now, go through the entire application form again and ensure the details’ accuracy.
- For the final step, pay the prescribed application fee for the exam and submit the application form.
- After submitting the application form, acquire a printout of it for forthcoming exam-related activities.

NDA Application Fee
The male aspirants of the UR and OBC category must pay Rs. 100/- as an application with the online application form. To pay this application fee, the aspirants can either opt for the available online payment methods or choose the “Pay by Cash” option to pay the fee through a nearby SBI branch. All female aspirants of SC/ ST/ Wards of JCOs/ NOCs and ORs categories do not need to pay any application fee to appear for the exam.
NDA Exam Scheme
The written exam for NDA will comprise two subjects – Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). In the test paper, objective-type questions will be asked. The language of the question paper will be Hindi and English. The total marks of the written exam are 900 and the duration of the exam will be 2.5 hours. To clear the written exam of NDA the candidates need to secure the decided cut-off marks in each subject. The pattern of the exam is as follows.
