About Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are a school system running under the control of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), the Government of India. These schools are affiliated with CBSE Board and are managed and controlled by an autonomous body named Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS).

JNVST Cut Off Marks

NVS is aimed to grant admissions to talented children coming from the rural areas of the country. Admissions in class VI and IX are made on the basis of entrance test known as the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST). The test is conducted every year and lakhs of candidates fill the application and appear for it. Students have to secure marks above the set cut-off criteria to qualify the test.

Cut off marks are the minimum marks that a candidate is required to qualify a particular exam. Candidates scoring marks above the cut off marks indicate that they have cleared the exam and vice-versa.

Cut off marks are set by the conducting authority for every exam and thus every competitive exam has different cut off marks. Cut off marks mainly depend on the number of candidates who appeared in the exam, number of seats/vacancies available, level of difficulty of the exam, and marking scheme. All these factors together help in deciding the cut-off marks for a particular exam.
