Cut-off marks are the minimum marks that a candidate is required to qualify for a particular exam. Candidates scoring marks above the cut-off marks indicate that they have cleared the exam and vice-versa.
Cut-off marks are set by the conducting authority for every exam and thus every competitive exam has different cut-off marks. Cut-off marks mainly depend on the number of candidates who appeared in the exam, the number of seats/vacancies available, the level of difficulty of the exam, and the marking scheme. All these factors together help in deciding the cut-off marks for a particular exam.
