NEET State Wise Counselling 2023: Check Status, Schedule, Procedure

NEET UG result for the year 2023 is declared by the authority on 13th June 2023. Now very soon the MCC authority will release the NEET UG Counselling schedule. The NEET-UG counselling is conducted at the Central level by MCC for 15% of AIQ seats and by state authorities at the state level for 85% of seats. NEET State Wise Counselling 2023 will start at a later stage. The counselling is conducted by the designated authorities identified by the state government and the entire admission process is carried out online in all the states and UTs.

NEET 2023 Counselling Procedure  

The counselling procedure at the central level and state level counselling is similar. However, the criteria for the issue of merit list/ rank list and number of seat allotment rounds may vary from state to state depending on the number of seats and some other factors.

• Release of Merit List- The counselling process generally starts after publishing a merit list or rank list of qualified candidates. This merit list is prepared by NTA and forwarded to respective state counselling authorities and these authorities publish it on the counselling portal. Each state counselling authority has an online portal through which the counselling and admission process is carried out. Some states also release the merit list after starting the registration process. Therefore, it could vary state-to-state. For detailed information, candidates are advised to refer to the official counselling notice and the official website of the respective state. • Registration and Choice Filling for Counselling– Those who make it to the merit list, have to register for counselling. Without registration counselling, candidates will not be considered for admission even if they have secured higher ranks. Registration for counselling is completely an online process. The registration schedule will be published on the NEET state counselling portal. Counselling in each state will start on separate dates as depend on the decision of the concerned state authority.
  
  The status of the commencement of counselling for each state has been updated below. After registration, candidates have to fill out choices for preferred courses and colleges. The choice filling is an important part of counselling as seat allotment and admission majorly depend on the choices made by the candidates. Therefore, each candidate is suggested to fill the preferences with utmost care. They must be ready with all their documents at the time of registration and choice filling.
  
• Allotment of Seats– After the completion of the registration process, the counselling authority scrutinises the applications and prepares the seat allotment result. This seat allotment result is based on the merit and ranks and preferences filled by the candidates. The allotment result is also posted on the counselling portal which candidates have to access using their login details. After allotment candidates are given various options, such as freeze, float, updation etc., which again vary from state to state.
  
• Reporting-Candidates who finally accept the allotted seat must report to the college they have been allotted. They report along with the requisite documents as per the schedule for admission.
