Anupam Mittal Biography: Anupam Mittal is one of the seven judges in the Indian Business reality show Shark Tank India Season 1. Telecasted on Sony TV, this reality show is an Indian franchisee of the American business reality show Shark Tank America. It is basically a platform where entrepreneurs pitch their ideas to the judges (sharks) to get an investment for their venture in return. Anupam Mittal is among these investors and is the Founder and CEO of People Group which includes popular matrimonial brands Shadi.com, Makaan.com, and Mauj mobile.                               

Anupam Mittal is an entrepreneur, angel investor, and businessman. He started the online matchmaking business when internet adaptation was quite poor in the country. Despite facing a number of failures in business he did not give up and took his company to the position it is today.

Anupam Mittal Early Life and Family

Anupam Mittal was born on 23^rd December 1971 in Maharashtra to Bhagwati Devi Mittal and Gopal Krishna Mittal. He is currently residing in Mumbai. He belongs to a business family. He has two elder sisters. On 4^th July 2013, Mittal tied the knot with his long-term girlfriend Anchal Kumar. They got married at Jaipur Palace. Recently, a video of his marriage has also gone viral. Anchal is a famous Model also seen in the Bollywood movie Bluffmaster.  The couple is blessed with a girl, Alyssa Mittal.  

Anupam Mittal Education and Career  

Anupam Mittal came from a business family. He completed this school education in Maharashtra. During his college days in his hometown, he assisted his father in his business by visiting his factory for two hours after college. In between, he got a contract from Europe but it was not a success. He then left for Europe and got failed again. After spending six months there, he decided to move to the US. He was admitted to Boston College in the 1994-1997 batch in Business/ Commerce, General. His major was in Operations and Strategic Management.

After graduating from Boston College, he joined the software company MicroStrategy in Washington DC as a product manager. He used to work with .com and was doing good in this company. He worked there for 4 years.

In 2000, .com was busted, and the internet industry suffered huge crises. Anupam Mittal then moved back to India as his company also suffered losses.  Anupam was quite inspired by consumer internet in the mid-90s in the US. With this, he started his own internet company with a small team of 10-15 members. In the year 1997. Mittal founded an online matrimony website known as Shadi.com. It was previously named Sagai.com, but it was changed to Shadi.com because it was not so marketable. The company serves globally with its core market being India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. The company was highlighted as one of the top ten marketers by Business Today in 2007.   

After the success of Shadi.com, Mittal founded People Group in 2001 making it the parent company of Shadi.com and other brands like Makaan.com and Mauj Mobile. Makaan.com is an online real-estate platform that was founded in 2007.

Anupam as an Investor

Along with being an entrepreneur, Mittal is also an angel investor. He started investing in 2007 when he himself was not aware of the term angel investor. His majority of investments are in start-ups. He had invested in more than 200 start-up ventures. Some of these include Interactive Avenues, Sapience Analytics, Big Basket, Cafe Zoe, Ketto, Druva, Pretty Secrets, TaxSpanner, Peel Works, FarEye, Prop Tiger, etc.

Anupam Mittal has also invested in Bollywood films. He has produced two movies named Flavors and 99.
