The Auction will be likely held on 11 February 2023 for the Women’s Indian Premier League. The players and franchises participating will be allowed to form the squads in an interesting auction bid war. However, prior to the auction, the Board of Control for Cricket in India will be inviting bids and will host an auction for the formation of six franchises for the game. The authorities have further declared that the franchises will be roped in for 10 years. They have set a valuation of Rs. 1000 crores which the franchises must have before registering for the formation of the Franchises for the Women’s Indian Premier League.
It is expected that the Men’s IPL franchises such as Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super King, Lucknow Super Giants, Gujarat Titans, and more will be trying to form a women’s cricket team in the Indian Premier League as well. Team List for WIPL 2023
As mentioned above, the auction will be taking place in February 2023 and the teams will be decided so. There will 6 teams initially as per the plan and tender of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Players participating in Women IPL 2023
Just like the Men’s Indian Premier League, the participants will be made by women cricket players from across the globe in the upcoming tournament. IPL has already established itself as one of the most prestigious leagues for franchise cricket across the globe. It shall easily attract women cricketers around the world. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced the registration window for the auctions. As per the authorities, the last date to register for the Women’s Indian Premier League is 26 January 2023.
The BCCI has announced that the players will have to register themselves under the Categories of Base Price as they have fixated. Further, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has notified that the players will have to register directly with the Board and not with or through any agents. They have declared that the registration has to be made under five categories. These are as follows:
- Category 1: Uncapped Players for Base Price of Rs. 10 Lakhs
- Category 2: Uncapped Players for Base Price of Rs. 20 Lakhs
- Category 3: Capped Players for Base Price for Rs. 30 Lakhs
- Category 4: Capped Players for Base Price of Rs. 40 Lakhs
- Category 5: Capped Players for Base Price of Rs. 50 Lakhs
Women Indian Premier League Schedule and Matches
The tournament for the Indian Premier League of Women is expected to play in the month of March 2023. The Men’s tournament will be organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India in April 2023. Considering the jam-packed year with Men’s ODI World Cup coming in and to be hosted in India, the month of March seems as the very rational option to host the inaugural edition of Women IPL. The tournament will commence right after a short break after the T20 World Cup of Women’s Cricket Team in February 2023. The final match will be played on 26 February 2023.
As per expectations. BCCI will consider all the aforementioned factors and conduct the tournament in the month of March 2023. Likely, it is expected that the tournament will be held between the dates of 3 March 2023 and 26 March 2023. BCCI has always been keen on introducing the Indian Premier League for Women. However, it never actually played out that well since the pandemic began to act out and the Board was already struggling to host and arrange the Men’s IPL.
