Earlier there used to be one qualifying date i.e., 1st January of every year for updating the voting rolls but after the amendment, there will be four qualifying dates i.e. in the month of January, April, July, and October. It means if a citizen has become eligible (turned 18) for voting but his/her name is not in the electoral roll then he can apply for the same on the said date. The linking process will be primarily online. Those who do not have access to the internet could also link it offline.
