Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme for Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles 2023-24

PMSS for CAPF & AR has been a functional scheme since 2006. Until the year 2019, this scheme was only applicable to the dependent widows & wards of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) & Assam Rifles (ARs), but since 2019, it is also applicable for the dependent wards of UTs or States Police Personnel who were martyred in the Naxal/Terror attacks. This scholarship provides monthly benefits of up to ₹2500 for boys & up to ₹3000 for girls.

Eligibility for Prime Minister’s Scholarship for CAPF & Assam Rifles

Primary eligibility: You should be under any one of the following categories to avail of the PMSS CAPF & Assam Rifles 2023 scheme:

  • Dependent Ward of SPP(State Police Personnel) war martyr of the Naxal or Terror attack.
  • Widow or ward of retired/serving CAPFs & ARs below officer rank.
  • Wards of Gallantry Awards recipient Ex-CAPFs and ARs
  • Ward or widow of departed ARs & CAPFs who died in harness or election duty.
  • Wards of disabled personnel because of attributable government service.

Secondary eligibility:

  • The applicant should have obtained at least 60 percentile in the latest school/diploma/graduation course.
  • The applicant ward can benefit from the PMSS scheme for the UG courses (BCA, BBA, B.sc, B.Pharma, Engineering, Medical, etc.) and PG courses (MBA, MCA, ME, etc.). The academic institution should be affiliated with AICTE, MCI, UGC or any other regulatory body of equivalent status.

Renewal eligibility: If you are already taking the scheme benefits and need to renew the scholarship for the new academic session, you must pass each semester with a score of at least 50%.

Documents required for Prime Minister Scholarship verification

  • Attested scanned copy of latest course mark sheet (12/ diploma course/ graduation/ equivalent course)
  • Service certificate from the H.O.O
  • Discharge certificate or PPO or Book (if applicable)
  • Death certificate (if applicable)
  • Gallantry award certificate (if applicable)
  • Disability certificate (if applicable)
  • Certificate from the Government of State confirming the SPP martyred in a terrorist or Naxal attack (if applicable)

Girls: Up to ₹3,000 monthly, which makes an annual amount of ₹36,000
Boys: Up to ₹2,500 monthly leads to a yearly sum of ₹30,000

Scholarships under PMSS CAPF & Assam Rifles

  • The wards of Central Armed Police Forces & Assam Rifles will be competing for a total of 2000 scholarships, which will be distributed equally among boys & girls.
  • Wards of State Police Personnel martyred in Naxal/Terror attacks will get a total of 500 seats, which will similarly be distributed equally between the male and female applicants.

How to apply for the PMSS Central Armed Police Forces & Assam Rifles 2023-24?

  • Visit the website https://scholarships.gov.in/
  • Under the Applicant Corner, click on the ‘New Registration’.
  • After being redirected to an instruction page click on the Link for Scholarship Schemes hosted on NSP for AY 2023-24.
  • A confirmation page will appear on your device screen, now read the instructions as well as the terms and conditions carefully.
  • Agree to the Terms and Conditions by clicking on the tiny checkboxes.
  • Click on the ‘Continue‘ key.
  • Select the domicile state along with the scholarship category, scheme of scholarship and other authentication details.
  • Next, you need to provide your bank details.
  • Select an identification detail and press the ‘Register‘ button.
  • Perform the OTP verification, which will be sent on your mobile number.
  • Use this OTP to log in and complete the scholarship application form.
  • After carefully filling up all the details, cross-check them and click on ‘Submit‘.

Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme Process

  • Online registration of the application by the candidates on the National Scholarship Portal.
  • The designated academic Institutions will conduct a probe and verification process of the applications submitted by the candidates and confirm the applications.
  • After the institutional verification process is complete, the applications will be further verified by the CAPFs/ AR/ State Government according to the category of the applicant.
  • Students will be shortlisted based on their merit and other eligibility criteria. A merit list will be prepared and released on the website of the National Scholarship Portal.
  • After the merit list is finalized, the concerned authorities (MHA from PMO, R and W Directorate) will initiate sanctioning the scholarship amounts.
  • An individual file called the ‘Payment File’ will be generated for each selected ward.
  • The scholarship amount will be transferred to the bank accounts of the selected candidates.
  • Personal letters will be sent out from the desk of our Honourable Prime Minister in the state language from the CAPFs, AR or Welfare And Rehabilitation Board.
